2005 Symposium:
Remediation Techniques in Housing Discrimination Cases
51 Wayne L. Rev. (forthcoming)
Topics Overview:
The symposium will address various
approaches used to remediate housing discrimination by examining several recently
terminated
federal court proceedings in Pennsylvania and Texas which involved court
supervision of remediation efforts for persistent racial discrimination in
public housing. The impact of substantial injections of federal funds to
overcome the effects of such discrimination will be discussed. Other topics that
will be covered include assessing responses to discriminatory residential
mortgage lending practices and exploring punitive damage theories as deterrents.
